Mr Edward Pitts c/o 90

Ed was born in New Jersey and is a proud alumnus of Milton Hershey School (MHS). His journey at Milton Hershey School began in February 1983, alongside his sister, Mrs. Amber Wnek-Dorgan, Class of 1988. Upon graduating in 1990, Ed attended the summer session at Bloomsburg University before returning to New Jersey to attend ACC, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Accounting.

Helping others has always been an important part of Ed’s family values. His sisters, Sharon and Amber, both served as chairpersons of the Foster Parent Association and on the Board of Directors of the State Foster Parent Association. In 2003, Ed was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from Foster and Adoptive Family Services in recognition of his commitment and contributions to the children of Cape May County.

Amber continued her commitment to helping others by co-founding Building Bridges for Brianna, a nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health awareness. The family’s dedication to service reflects a shared belief in making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

After working in the culinary and construction industries, Ed founded Seaboard Communication, a telecommunications company, in 2005. As the company’s owner, he oversaw projects for private clients, public organizations, and government agencies. His responsibilities included coordinating and managing technicians across the country.

Those who know Ed understand that he has never been one to sit still for long. While managing the business, he especially enjoyed working hands-on in the field as a Senior Project Manager. In 2010, Ed relocated his entire business to South Carolina, where he continued pursuing the career he loved.

In 2020, Ed received a life-changing diagnosis of Stage IV esophageal cancer. This serious disease forced him to retire from the career he had worked so hard to build and begin a new fight: the fight for his life.

After undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, Ed traveled to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, for surgery. Following surgery, he endured a year of immunotherapy as part of his treatment.

As many cancer survivors understand, the challenges do not necessarily end when treatment is completed. Ed continues to manage the lasting effects of his illness, including malnutrition and other health complications that are not always visible to others. His journey has required tremendous strength, resilience, and perseverance.

Despite his ongoing medical challenges, Ed’s desire to help others remains strong. His connection to Milton Hershey School and his fellow alumni brothers and sisters continues to hold a special place in his heart.

Although his health may limit his ability to participate as actively as he once did, Ed remains committed to supporting this organization in whatever way he can. Whether offering encouragement from the sidelines, cheering on fellow alumni, or standing in solidarity with those facing struggles of their own, Ed hopes to remind others that they are never alone.

Ed’s story is one of perseverance, service, and an unwavering desire to make a difference. His journey has taken him from the halls of Milton Hershey School to building a successful business, and through one of life’s most difficult battles. Through it all, his determination to support others remains a testament to the strength of his character and the enduring spirit of the Milton Hershey School family.
